On its own website the company says it was founded in 1975, specialises in terry (felpo) products and exports to more than 40 countries, naming Denmark and Sweden among its leading markets alongside France, Italy, the UK, Canada and the US.

Why this matters

Among the Portuguese rows on the list, only the Vagos tableware maker Grestel reports a larger workforce than Mundotêxtil’s 560, which makes the Vizela plant the biggest Portuguese textile factory on Marimekko’s list. Marimekko’s June 2026 partner-supplier list has 97 factory rows, 13 of them in Portugal — 12 different Portuguese suppliers, second only to China’s 13 — and the Helsinki-listed design house’s 2025 annual report puts Portugal’s share of Marimekko products sold at 15%, behind only China (20%) and Thailand (17%).
