About NorthSouth HQ
NorthSouth HQ is an English-language daily publication on business between Portugal and the Nordic countries — Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland — in both directions. It launched in 2026, is published by Fractio and is edited by Miguel Baptista. This page sets out who we are, how we are owned, and how we source, verify and correct what we publish.
What we cover
NorthSouth HQ reports daily, in English, on business between Portugal and the Nordic countries, in both directions:
- Nordics → Portugal: Nordic companies, capital and operators in Portugal.
- Portugal → Nordics: Portuguese exporters, scale-ups and industrial companies selling in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.
Alongside the daily news, we maintain:
- Two verified company directories: Nordic companies in Portugal and Portuguese companies in Scandinavia, with country pages for Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and Finnish companies in Portugal.
- Company profiles for the businesses listed in those directories.
- Tenders: a Nordic public-tenders page, built from the EU’s Tenders Electronic Daily (TED) database.
- Jobs: a jobs page for roles across the corridor.
- A guide for Nordic companies: Doing Business in Portugal.
NorthSouth HQ launched in 2026.

Ownership and independence
NorthSouth HQ is published by Fractio. Fractio is a commercial consultancy, and its founder, Miguel Baptista, is also NorthSouth HQ’s editor. Editorial decisions at NorthSouth HQ are made independently of Fractio’s commercial relationships.
- Directory listings are free and are based only on the verification criteria set out under Methodology below.
- Coverage is not for sale.
- Any sponsored content will always be clearly labelled as sponsored.
- Where a story concerns a Fractio client, the article says so.
Editorial standards
Our reporting follows these standards:
- Primary sources first. We go first to company filings and announcements, statistical offices, procurement notices, company registers and regulators.
- Every figure is attributed. Figures are attributed to their source in the text and, where possible, recomputed from the source data.
- Dates and currencies are explicit. We state them rather than leave them to be inferred.
- Disagreements are reported. When sources disagree, we say so rather than silently pick one.
- No anonymous sources. We do not rely on them.
- Licensed, credited images. Images are freely licensed, from Wikimedia Commons or Unsplash; Wikimedia Commons images are credited with their author and licence.
- Dated articles. Every article carries its publication date.
Methodology: how we verify the directories
A company is listed only when we can document a concrete link across the corridor. Each direction has its own criteria, and an entry must meet at least one of them.
Nordics → Portugal
For Nordic companies in Portugal, at least one of:
- A Portuguese legal entity with a tax number (NIF) that is demonstrably linked to the Nordic company
- A named factory, warehouse or office in Portugal
- A named country manager for Portugal
- A documented capital investment in Portugal
Portugal → Nordics
For Portuguese companies in Scandinavia, at least one of:
- A named Nordic customer — for example a retailer’s published supplier list, a Systembolaget, Vinmonopolet or Alko listing, or a named public buyer
- A named Nordic distributor or partner
- A Nordic office, branch or subsidiary
- A public tender win in the Nordics
- A named Nordic investor
Companies that merely look plausible, or that only claim to “export across Europe”, are not listed.
Profiles start as short verified entries and are expanded as more facts are confirmed. Brief profiles are kept out of search indexes until they are expanded.
