Copenhagen-based biotech and pharmaceutical technology company, established in 2019 as a spin-out from the University of Copenhagen. Owner of the Dispersome® drug-delivery platform and joint-venture partner of Portuguese CDMO Hovione for respiratory and nutraceutical applications.
Zerion Pharma owns the Dispersome® platform — a drug-delivery technology designed to increase solubility and bioavailability of poorly soluble compounds. Hovione and Zerion co-promoted the technology to clients from 2022, and in October 2024 the two companies announced an expanded structure with a joint venture managing the Dispersome® IP portfolio and allocating market rights between the two partners.
Under the JV, Hovione holds exclusive global rights to develop Dispersome® for respiratory drugs and exclusive rights for nutraceutical and medicinal-foods products, with Zerion receiving royalties on Hovione’s commercial activity in those fields. Arla Foods Ingredients (Denmark) supplies a key excipient inside the platform.
The Dispersome® JV is one of the clearest named Portuguese-Danish pharma corridor partnerships, anchored by a globally recognised Portuguese CDMO and a Danish biotech with University of Copenhagen pedigree.
