Nordic presence in Portugal

Wirtek

Software

Wirtek A/S, a Danish IT consultancy listed in Copenhagen, entered Portugal in 2024 by acquiring Porto software house Pragmasoft LDA for up to €2 million — its first sourcing location outside Romania. Pragmasoft brings ~20 engineers and 25 years of software for the energy sector.

Corridor footprint

Wirtek’s acquisition of Pragmasoft — announced in April 2024 and completed on 1 August 2024 — gave the Danish group a profitable Porto engineering base of around 20 IT professionals and an international client roster, fulfilling its Accelerate25XL strategic goal of a sourcing location outside Romania.

The fit is sectoral as much as geographic: Pragmasoft has built software for the energy industry for 25 years, and combined with Wirtek’s Danish IoT unit Seluxit it anchors the group’s push into the clean-energy software market. In 2025 Pragmasoft was recognised as PME Líder by IAPMEI.

Why this matters for the corridor

Wirtek is part of the quieter second wave of Nordic tech investment in Portugal: not a flagship engineering hub announcement, but a listed Danish mid-cap buying a niche Porto software house outright — capability M&A that ties Portuguese engineers into Nordic clean-energy programmes.
