Widex has one of the deeper Nordic footprints in the Portuguese healthcare market. Its Portuguese entity, Widex – Reabilitação Auditiva, Unipessoal, Lda (NIF 501882766), was established in 1987 and operates from a head office on Avenida Duque d’Ávila in Lisbon (Edifício OMNI). From there it runs a nationwide network of around 40 hearing-care centres (centros auditivos), fitting and servicing Widex devices for Portuguese patients; the company has highlighted its early ISO 9001 certification in the Portuguese hearing-rehabilitation sector.
Widex itself was founded in Denmark in 1956 and remains one of the world’s best-known hearing-aid brands, sold in more than 100 countries. Since the 2019 merger of Widex and Sivantos it has been part of WS Audiology, one of the three global leaders in hearing technology. The Portuguese operation therefore connects a local clinical network to a Danish-rooted, globally scaled R&D and manufacturing base.
An ageing European population is expanding demand for hearing care, and Widex’s long-established Portuguese network is a durable, clinically embedded Nordic presence — the kind of high-trust, service-plus-device business that is very hard to displace once built. It is a quietly significant strand of the Denmark → Portugal side of the corridor.
