Vizrt is a Norwegian-founded real-time broadcast graphics group (Bergen, 1997), owned by Nordic Capital, whose tools power BBC, CNN, FOX and NASA broadcasts. In October 2024 it opened a Lisbon tech hub with 34 people — together with its US subsidiary NDI — planning 30% growth in year one.
Vizrt opened its Portuguese tech hub in Lisbon in October 2024 alongside NDI, its US-based video-over-IP subsidiary — a combined operation of 34 people at launch with a plan to grow the team by 30% within a year. The hub carries European R&D work spanning 3D graphics, augmented reality, AI-driven production tools and sports and news storytelling, and serves the markets where both companies operate.
The Norwegian group is no stranger to the Portuguese market: national broadcasters RTP and TVI and sports channel SportTV already run Vizrt graphics through local channel partner Ibertelco. The Lisbon investment turns a long-standing customer relationship into a permanent engineering presence.
Vizrt joins a growing set of Nordic technology companies — from Telenor’s shared services to CTS’s data-centre manufacturing — that have chosen Portugal for engineering capacity rather than back-office arbitrage. A Bergen-born, Nordic Capital-owned media-tech leader running R&D from Lisbon is exactly the profile of investment the corridor is built on.
