Corridor footprint

Visma’s Portuguese presence is one of the most operationally substantive Nordic-owned software footprints in the country. The Visma Tech Portugal hub in Porto, opened in April 2022, was set up explicitly as a long-term competence centre for the wider European group, focused on security, AI, and product engineering across the Visma portfolio. The Lisbon-based Nmbrs HR software development team and the recent integration of Moloni (e-invoicing, acquired in 2023) and InvoiceXpress (acquired in 2024) round out a Portuguese platform that combines acquired Portuguese SaaS scale-ups with greenfield engineering capacity.

The acquisitions also have a strategic logic for Visma’s Iberian growth path. Moloni and InvoiceXpress are well-known invoicing brands among Portuguese SMEs — a customer base that pairs well with the broader Visma group’s ERP and HR offerings. By coupling local product brands with Group-level platform investment, Visma has positioned Portugal as both a market and a software production base.

Why this matters for the corridor

Visma is one of the clearest examples of the Nordic Tier-1 software corridor strategy: build a Portuguese engineering hub for European-wide product work, while simultaneously acquiring local SaaS scale-ups to anchor commercial scale. For Portuguese software founders considering exit options, Visma is a recurring strategic acquirer; for Nordic software companies considering Iberian expansion, the Visma playbook is one of the most replicated in the corridor.
