Vercoope – União das Adegas Cooperativas da Região dos Vinhos Verdes, UCRL (NIF 500291675) is the second-tier cooperative that bottles, markets and distributes the wines of seven Vinho Verde cooperatives — Amarante, Braga, Guimarães, Famalicão, Felgueiras, Paredes and Vale de Cambra — from Rua 25 de Abril 691, Agrela, Santo Tirso (4825-010). Created in 1964, it sells under the Via Latina, Praça de S. Tiago and Terras de Felgueiras brands and has seven lines in Systembolaget’s order range through Vänersborgs Vinagentur AB, the latest a Felgueiras Pet Nat Azal launched on 20 May 2026.
Vercoope is the commercial arm of the cooperative half of the Vinho Verde region. Its seven member wineries were founded between 1957 and 1964 in the towns that ring Porto to the north-east, and the union was created in 1964 so that they could bottle and sell together rather than compete: the site lists Amarante (cooperative founded 18 October 1958), Guimarães (1962, winery at Fermentões from 1963), Vale de Cambra (1964, 54 founding members and some 300,000 litres in its first year), Famalicão’s Frutivinhos (11 March 1960) and Felgueiras, whose cooperative dates from 1957 but traces its origins to a farmers’ syndicate of 1895. The flagship brand is Via Latina, a full Vinho Verde range from Loureiro and Alvarinho whites to a Grande Escolha and sparkling white, rosé and red, alongside the Praça de S. Tiago and Terras de Felgueiras labels and wines sold under the member cooperatives’ own names.
In Sweden the union has built up its Systembolaget presence in three steps within six months. On 2 December 2025 the monopoly added Via Latina Alvarinho 2024, Grande Escolha 2023 and the Espumante Verde Branco to its order range through Vänersborgs Vinagentur AB; on 18 February 2026 it added the Escolha Branco 2025 and the Espumante Rosé; on 2 March 2026 the Loureiro 2025; and on 20 May 2026 a Felgueiras Pet Nat Azal, a pétillant naturel from the local Azal grape. All seven are “ordervaror”, orderable through any Systembolaget store rather than stocked on shelves, at SEK 110–158 a bottle, which places Via Latina in the everyday-Vinho-Verde band where the monopoly’s Portuguese sales are concentrated.
Cooperatives hold a large share of Vinho Verde’s volume, and Vercoope is the vehicle through which that volume reaches export markets. Seven listings in half a year at Systembolaget show how the order range works as an on-ramp for a producer with breadth rather than a single hero wine: the importer can test styles and price points without a tender, and a strong seller can then be proposed for the fixed assortment. For Portuguese cooperatives watching the Nordic monopolies, Vercoope’s sequence of small launches is a practical model.
