Uponor is a Finnish building-systems company — PEX piping, plumbing and underfloor heating and cooling — acquired by Switzerland’s Georg Fischer (GF) in 2023 and now part of GF’s Building Flow Solutions division. It serves Portugal through Uponor Portugal, Lda, based in Vila Nova de Gaia, within an Iberian organisation headquartered near Madrid.
Uponor is a Finnish building-solutions group specialising in PEX piping, plumbing systems and radiant underfloor heating and cooling — what it markets in Portugal as “climatização invisível.” In 2023 the Swiss industrial group Georg Fischer acquired Uponor in a deal valued at around €2.1 billion, completing the takeover in November 2023; Uponor now operates as part of GF’s Building Flow Solutions division.
In Portugal the business runs as Uponor Portugal, Lda, based at Vilar de Paraíso in Vila Nova de Gaia near Porto, within an Iberian organisation whose headquarters and logistics hub sit in Móstoles, on the edge of Madrid, and which serves both Spain and Portugal. From there Uponor supplies Portuguese installers, distributors and construction projects with heating, cooling and plumbing systems.
Uponor shows how a Nordic industrial brand reaches Portugal through an integrated Iberian structure — a common pattern for Nordic manufacturers that run Spain and Portugal as one commercial region. Its now-Swiss ownership underlines how Nordic building-technology assets sit inside larger European groups while keeping a registered Portuguese entity on the ground.
