UDACA is a second-tier co-operative: a union of Dão co-operative wineries, registered as Udaca – União das Adegas Cooperativas do Dão, União de Cooperativas de Responsabilidade Limitada (NIF 500291659). The region’s co-operatives founded it in 1966. Its website names four associated co-operatives, all with long histories of their own. Vila Nova de Tazem was founded in 1954 and Silgueiros in 1962, and Silgueiros has about 2,000 grower members. Mangualde was founded in 1963 and can process more than 6,000 tonnes of grapes. Penalva do Castelo has about 1,000 members farming more than 1,200 hectares and produces an average of 6–10 million litres a year. In Viseu, UDACA runs a winery with 6 million litres of indoor capacity, an underground cellar, an oenology laboratory, a shop and a wine museum. Its brands include Tesouro da Sé, Adro da Sé, Irreverente, Invulgar, Dom Divino and Viriatvs. The current list runs from DOP Dão reds and whites made from Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, Encruzado and Malvasia-Fina to bag-in-box reds and whites in 5- and 10-litre formats, and it opens with an Invulgar “60 Anos” anniversary edition. The union says more than 65% of its production is exported, to more than 40 countries.

UDACA does not reach Swedish shelves under one of its own brands. Systembolaget’s product search lists UDACA as the producer of Limhamns Rosé (article 7378201, 750 ml glass bottle, SEK 132), supplied by the Swedish importer CC winery and in the monopoly’s order range (ordervaror) since 20 May 2024. CC winery uses the same Limhamns name for a red, Limhamns Röda (article 7275901), from a different Portuguese producer, Familia Margaca. That pattern points to a label owned by the importer, with UDACA as the Dão supplier behind the rosé. Systembolaget’s sales-per-article lists record 149.25 litres of Limhamns Rosé in 2024, at SEK 138 at year-end, and 315.75 litres in 2025, at SEK 131. That is roughly 200 and 420 bottles respectively. On 5 October 2026 the product search flagged the article as completely out of stock.

Why this matters for the corridor

UDACA pools the output of four Dão co-operatives, and it says exports already take most of it. Yet its only verified presence at the Swedish monopoly is a single rosé sold under an importer’s own label, at a few hundred bottles a year. That is a common pattern for co-operative wine in the Nordics: the producer supplies the wine and the importer owns the brand on the shelf. The gap between a 6-million-litre winery and a 316-litre Swedish line shows how much room the Dão still has in a monopoly market where Portugal sells millions of litres a year.
