Trotinete, Lda is a Portuguese uniform and corporate-clothing manufacturer from Leça do Balio, near Porto, with more than three decades of production kept in Portugal. In May 2026 it was named one of seven suppliers on the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) framework for military ceremonial wear, worth SEK 113.4 million.
Trotinete, Lda — trading on its “Trot & Trotinete” uniform lines — operates from the Arroteia business centre in Leça do Balio, in the Matosinhos municipality on the northern edge of Porto’s metro area. For more than thirty years it has designed and produced uniforms and corporate clothing for schools, hospitality, healthcare, industry and the military segment, keeping production in Portugal and drawing on the Norte region’s dense textile and clothing cluster.
In May 2026 Trotinete was admitted as one of seven suppliers on a framework agreement for military ceremonial wear awarded by FMV, Sweden’s Defence Materiel Administration. The contract award notice, published on the EU’s TED procurement portal on 11 May 2026 (notice 320339-2026), values the framework at SEK 113.4 million — roughly €10 million — across parade uniforms and forage caps, placing Trotinete alongside Nordic and British specialist incumbents.
Trotinete’s win is proof that Nordic defence spending reaches well beyond drones and artillery into clothing, textiles and footwear — categories where Portugal’s Norte cluster holds a structural advantage and needs no defence-industrial offsets. It is a template for the hundreds of Portuguese SMEs that could win Nordic public contracts through the open TED procurement route.
