Lund-founded TFS HealthScience is a contract research organisation that runs clinical trials for biotech and pharmaceutical sponsors in dermatology, internal medicine, neuroscience, oncology and ophthalmology, and is wholly owned by the Swedish listed investor Ratos. It has a Lisbon office at Edifício Alto Amoreiras, registered as Trial Form Support, SL - Sucursal em Portugal (NIF 980349273), a branch of its Spanish company. Ratos puts its headcount at more than 600, with net sales of SEK 1,177 million.
TFS HealthScience designs and runs clinical trials on behalf of biotech and pharmaceutical companies, offering full-service development, functional service provision (FSP) and specialist consultants in five therapeutic areas: dermatology, internal medicine, neuroscience, oncology and ophthalmology. Its company history starts in Lund in 1996; TFS says it pioneered Europe’s first FSP model in 1997, opened its first international hub in Copenhagen in 2001 and expanded into Spain in 2005 by acquiring CDC Clinical Data Care. Ratos took a 60% majority stake in 2015, lists the holding as acquired in 2015/2019 and now owns 100% of the parent, TFS Trial Form Support International AB (org. no. 556513-1660). Ratos lists TFS among its majority holdings with more than 600 employees, net sales of SEK 1,177 million and adjusted EBITA of SEK 63 million, direct operations in some 20 countries and indirect operations in about 30 more; the chief executive is Markus Granlund.
In Portugal, TFS’s contact page lists an office at Rua Joshua Benoliel 6, 6.º A, Edifício Alto Amoreiras, 1250-133 Lisboa, among European offices that include Barcelona, Madrid, Brussels, Budapest, Rome, Warsaw and Gothenburg. The Lisbon office is registered as Trial Form Support, SL - Sucursal em Portugal (NIF 980349273), a permanent representation of TFS’s Spanish company at the same address. Its registered object is to provide technical services for medical research and for trials of new or already marketed medicines, under CAE 74900 (other consulting, scientific and technical activities). Racius lists balance sheets up to 2024 and annual accounts filings in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025, with a change to the branch’s representation recorded in 2024.
TFS adds a clinical-trial services provider to the Nordic healthcare companies NorthSouth HQ tracks in Portugal, alongside drug and device makers such as Novo Nordisk, Lundbeck and Coloplast. Its Lisbon branch hangs off the Spanish company TFS built through its 2005 acquisition, so Portugal is run as part of an Iberian operation rather than directly from Lund. For Portuguese hospitals and investigators taking part in multinational studies, and for Nordic sponsors weighing Portugal as a trial country, it is a Swedish-owned CRO with a registered local base.
