Rozès, S.A. (NIF 501789650) is a Port and Douro wine house founded in Bordeaux in 1855 by the merchant Ostende Rozès and owned since 1999 by the French Vranken-Pommery Monopole group of Reims. Its registered seat is at Quinta de Monsul, Cambres (5100-387 Lamego), with lodges at Rua Cândido dos Reis 526-532 in Vila Nova de Gaia and €15 million of share capital. In Sweden, Systembolaget carries two Rozès wines through Amka Vinimport AB: Quinta do Pégo Vintage Port (art. 7611201, SEK 662, listed since 1 September 2012) and Cerro do Santo Reserva Douro (art. 5076801, SEK 201, since 22 February 2021).
Rozès is a French-owned Port house with a Portuguese balance sheet. The company’s registry entry shows a société anonyme with €15 million of share capital whose seat is not in Gaia but at Quinta de Monsul in Cambres, near Lamego, in the Douro, and whose earlier corporate names, S. Pedro das Águias, Sociedade Agrícola e Comercial and SPR Vinhos, record how the Vranken group assembled it: an entry into Portugal in 1986 through the São Pedro das Águias estate, the purchase of the 1855 Bordeaux-founded Rozès brand in 1999, and the addition of Quinta do Grifo at Barca de Alva in 2003. The Gaia lodges on Rua Cândido dos Reis are the commercial face; the vineyards and the legal seat sit upriver. The parent, Vranken-Pommery Monopole of Reims, is the champagne group that owns Pommery, Heidsieck & Co Monopole and Vranken, and Rozès is its Port and Douro arm.
The Swedish presence is small but long-standing. Systembolaget’s article 7611201, Quinta do Pégo Vintage, has existed since 1 September 2012 and now carries the 2020 vintage at SEK 662, one of the higher-priced Portuguese lines in the order range; Cerro do Santo Reserva Douro was added on 22 February 2021 at SEK 201. Both are imported by Amka Vinimport AB and are “ordervaror”, available to order through any store. Against the roughly 570 Portuguese products on Systembolaget’s list, two lines is a modest footprint for a house with a 40-country export claim, which suggests the Nordic market is served opportunistically through the importer rather than as a priority.
Rozès is a reminder that a share of “Portuguese” wine exports to the Nordics is decided in Reims, Bordeaux or Madrid rather than Gaia: foreign-owned Port houses allocate markets across a group portfolio, and a Swedish importer’s relationship may run to the champagne parent. For Portuguese producers competing for the same Systembolaget slots, that is the benchmark; for Nordic buyers, it explains why some Douro brands appear and disappear with the parent’s priorities.
