Quinta do Tamariz – Sociedade Agrícola, S.A. (NIF 500263906) is an independent family wine estate at São Miguel da Carreira, Barcelos, in the Vinho Verde region. The family has run it for four generations, since banker António Borges began exporting wine from it in the late 19th century. It makes still and sparkling Vinho Verde and wine brandies. In Sweden, Systembolaget lists two of its wines in the order range through importer CLAR Wine AB.
Systembolaget’s product search names Quinta do Tamariz as producer of two wines in the Swedish monopoly’s order range: Alvarinho Reserva 2020 (art. 7580901, SEK 236, launched 21 November 2023) and PetNat 2021 (art. 5065701, SEK 256, launched 13 March 2023). The Swedish supplier for both is CLAR Wine AB. Both were still listed on 27 October 2026. No Quinta do Tamariz wine showed up in a Vinmonopolet search for Norway the same day.
The estate’s website says the family began producing wine in the late 19th century, when banker António Borges of Casa Borges & Irmão started exporting wine from his estates. Serious winemaking began in 1926 under his daughter, D. Lúcia Borges Vinagre, who inherited the São Miguel da Carreira properties. The fourth generation, led by economist António Vinagre, calls itself an independent grower and bottler. Its current range runs from Alvarinho and Arinto to sparkling rosé and white, plus a 40-year-old wine brandy. The legal entity, Quinta do Tamariz – Sociedade Agrícola, S.A., has its registered office in Porto.
Vinho Verde is one of the Portuguese styles that sells most easily in the Nordic monopolies, but most of the volume goes to large brands that win basic-range tenders. Tamariz shows the other route: a small, old family estate that reaches Sweden through a specialist importer’s order-range listings for an aged Alvarinho and a pét-nat, both higher-priced, niche products.
