The estate’s 35 planted hectares are unusual for the Douro in being 60% white varieties — rabigato, códega do larinho, viosinho and verdelho — a profile increasingly in tune with Nordic demand for fresh Atlantic whites. The property once belonged to Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the legendary “Ferreirinha” of Douro history, and remains in the Ferreira family, with Casa Santos Lima responsible for production and commercialisation since 2011.
Porrais adds another Douro name to the corridor’s Norwegian ledger — and its white-heavy vineyard is a bet that maps directly onto where Nordic monopoly demand is heading.
