Quidgest, the Lisbon software house founded in 1988 behind the Genio generative-AI development platform, signed a 2024–2026 partnership with SPOT Nordic — the association of Portuguese graduates and researchers in the Nordic countries — including research grants, an annual event and support for its expansion across Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
Quidgest builds complex management systems through Genio, its model-driven platform that uses generative techniques to produce and continuously regenerate application code — by the company’s account, some 160 million lines of code on an average day. In December 2024 it signed a strategic partnership with SPOT Nordic, the association of Portuguese graduates and researchers in the Nordic countries, running from 2024 to 2026.
The agreement funds €7,000 research grants for computer-science, software-development and AI projects, an annual joint event, and structured collaboration between Portuguese and Nordic companies, academics and institutions — explicitly in support of Quidgest’s stated ambition to expand in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
Most Portuguese software exports to the Nordics travel through customer contracts; Quidgest is building a different bridge — the Portuguese technical diaspora in Scandinavia — and turning it into a distribution and research network. It is a template other Portuguese scale-ups eyeing the Nordics could copy.
