Petco Retail AS was a small Norwegian pet-care retailer with three stores and roughly €3 million in annual sales. On 18 February 2026 the company was acquired by Musti Group — the Helsinki-headquartered Nordic pet-care platform now Portuguese-controlled via Sonae — for approximately €2.3 million. The transaction was completed in time to support Musti’s Q1 2026 results, in which Norway grew the fastest of any geography (+25.5% to ~€24M).
Integration was immediate, with the three stores rebadged under Musti’s Norwegian banner. The bolt-on is the first sign of an active Portuguese-led consolidation strategy in the Norwegian mid-market pet-care segment.
Petco Retail AS is now part of the most prominent Portuguese-controlled Nordic retail platform — a concrete example of Iberian capital consolidating Scandinavian specialty retail.
