Norwegian pet-care retailer with three stores, acquired on 18 February 2026 by Musti Group — the Nordic pet-care leader controlled by Portugal’s Sonae — for approximately €2.3 million. The bolt-on was integrated under the Musti banner and helped drive Musti’s Norway net sales up 25.5% in Q1 2026.
Petco Retail was a three-store Norwegian pet-care chain with annual sales of roughly €3 million when Musti Group acquired it on 18 February 2026 for approximately €2.3 million. The deal folded the stores into the Musti banner — the Nordic region’s largest pet-care specialist — and formed part of the bolt-on strategy Musti has pursued since Portugal’s Sonae took control of the Finnish-headquartered group.
The acquisition’s effect showed up immediately in the numbers: Norway was Musti’s fastest-growing market in Q1 2026, with net sales up 25.5% year-on-year to around €24 million, aided by the Petco integration. For Sonae, each Norwegian bolt-on compounds the position it built with the 2024–25 Musti take-private — Portuguese retail capital consolidating the Nordic pet-care market store by store.
Petco Retail is small, but it illustrates the corridor’s most mature reverse flow: Portuguese capital acting as the consolidator in a Nordic consumer category. Sonae’s pet-care platform now spans Finland, Sweden, Norway, the Baltics and Iberia — and Norwegian tuck-ins like this one are how the position deepens.
