Corridor footprint

OutSystems is the largest and most globally-successful software company to come out of Portugal. Founded in Lisbon in 2001 by Paulo Rosado and a small team, it pioneered the low-code enterprise application development category and has grown to serve thousands of customers across 75+ countries, including major accounts in every Nordic market. The Nordic business is served through a mix of direct enterprise sales teams, global SI partners (Accenture, Capgemini, Deloitte, Tietoevry) and a network of specialised local partners — a classic "scale via partners" GTM in markets where head count is expensive.

Nordic customer references span banking (core systems modernisation projects in Sweden and Finland), insurance (claims and policy administration), retail (omnichannel platforms), and government/public sector (digital-service portals in Denmark and Finland). OutSystems has presented at Nordic enterprise architecture and CIO events for years, and its partner ecosystem is a strong signal of local traction: Tier 1 SIs only invest in practice builds when there's real customer pull.

Why this matters for the corridor

OutSystems is the proof point that a Portuguese-founded B2B enterprise software company can compete at the very top of a Nordic market that is otherwise dominated by US and Nordic-native vendors (Microsoft, ServiceNow, local SAP Signavio-style specialists). Its GTM in the region — partner-led, anchored by named enterprise references, supported by a small in-region team — is the template most Portuguese SaaS scale-ups evaluating Nordic expansion should study.

Nordic funding connections

While OutSystems' primary backers are US-based (KKR, Goldman Sachs, Tiger Global), its rise coincides with a broader trend of Nordic VCs (Creandum, Northzone, EQT Ventures) paying closer attention to Portuguese B2B software — partly because OutSystems proved the category was exportable from Lisbon.
