Nordic presence in Portugal

Nudie Jeans

Fashion & Apparel

Nudie Jeans is a Gothenburg denim brand founded in 2001 by Maria Erixon and Joakim Levin and owned by Svenska Jeans Holding AB, with revenue of about SEK 489 million in 2019, roughly 200 employees and a repair programme that mends more than 65,000 pairs of jeans a year in its stores. Its published production guide names its Portuguese suppliers: the sock range is made by Fiorima S.A. in Braga with yarn from Trifitrofa of Trofa, and trucked from Portugal to the brand’s Swedish warehouse.

Corridor footprint

Nudie Jeans was founded in Gothenburg in 2001 by designer Maria Erixon and Joakim Levin, and is owned by Svenska Jeans Holding AB. It built its name on raw, organic-cotton denim and on a repair-first model — the company mends more than 65,000 pairs of its jeans a year free of charge in its own stores — and reported revenue of SEK 489.4 million in 2019 with 199 employees in 2021. It publishes a supplier-level production guide for every product it sells, one of the more detailed transparency tools in Nordic fashion.

That guide is what documents the Portuguese link. Nudie’s sock range is made in Portugal by Fiorima S.A., the Braga hosiery manufacturer founded in 1985 that produces around 3.5 million pairs a year for European brands, using yarn supplied by Trifitrofa of Trofa; finished goods are transported by road from Portugal to the brand’s Swedish warehouse, operated by Korallen AB. Both Portuguese suppliers appear in NorthSouth HQ’s Portugal → Nordics directory; the guide places the brand’s core denim production elsewhere, so Portugal is a category-specific rather than a core-denim supplier.

Why this matters for the corridor

Nudie Jeans is a useful example because the Portugal link is precise: a named brand, a named factory, a named yarn trader and a named logistics path, all from the brand’s own disclosures. For Portuguese textile and hosiery manufacturers, the lesson is that Swedish transparency-led brands publish exactly the information a prospective supplier needs to see who they already work with and in which product category the door is open.
