Corridor footprint

The Norwegian Seafood Council (Sjømatrådet) is funded by Norwegian seafood exporters via a fee on every kilo exported, and operates representative offices in Norway's largest seafood markets. The Lisbon office covers Portugal — uniquely positioned among Norway's markets given that Portugal absorbed roughly one-third of Norwegian cod exports in 2023. Gudfinna Traustadottir, of Norwegian and Icelandic nationality, took the country director role on 1 August 2025 after eight years in Brazil.

Why this matters

Norwegian Seafood Council sits inside the Portugal ↔ Scandinavia business corridor that NorthSouth HQ tracks every day. As a Nordic trade promotion body in Portugal, its operations are a data point in the broader story of how capital, goods, people and ideas flow between Portugal and the Nordics — a corridor that is accelerating in 2026.
