Nordea Asset Management — the €250bn-class investment arm of the Nordic region’s largest financial group — opened its third international hub in the Quinta da Fonte business park in Oeiras in 2022, alongside Copenhagen and Luxembourg. The office launched with around 40 staff, reached roughly 100 within about a year, and handles operations, technology, marketing and product functions for the group worldwide.
Nordea Asset Management chose Oeiras for its third international hub in 2022, inaugurating an office in the Quinta da Fonte business park with a team of roughly 40 people and a public target of reaching 100. Portuguese business media reported the goal was met: about a year after opening, the local team stood at around 100 people, with management describing performance as above expectations and the commitment as long-term.
The hub is not a sales office but an operating centre: teams in Oeiras support operations, technology, marketing, product management and other business functions for Nordea AM globally, and the location also serves as a base for coverage of Southern Europe and Latin America. It sits alongside a wider Nordea footprint in the Lisbon area, where the banking group also runs technology operations.
Nordea AM’s Oeiras hub is one of the clearest votes of confidence by Nordic financial services in Portuguese talent: a top-tier Nordic asset manager placing global middle-office and technology functions — not just a support desk — in greater Lisbon, in direct competition with Luxembourg for new roles.
