Nilörngruppen AB, headquartered in Borås, designs and manufactures brand identity products — woven and printed labels, hang tags, packaging and trims — for apparel, footwear and lifestyle brands. It acquired its Portuguese factory in Recarei, in the Paredes municipality near Porto, in 1999, and operates it through the registered subsidiary Nilorn Portugal — Indústria de Etiquetas, Lda. The unit generated around €12 million in revenue in 2024, according to Jornal de Negócios, supplying labels and trims inside the dense northern Portuguese textile and footwear manufacturing belt.
After more than a quarter-century of continuous Swedish ownership, the Recarei plant is set to change hands at group level: on 4 May 2026 Trimco Group (UK) Limited, part of the Brookfield-owned global garment-trim group Trimco, announced a recommended cash offer of SEK 77 per share for Nilörngruppen, valuing the company at approximately SEK 878 million.
Nilörngruppen’s board recommended the Trimco offer; the final regulatory approval was received on 22 June 2026, and the acceptance period ran from 16 June to 10 July 2026, with settlement expected around 22 July. If completed, the takeover folds Nilörn’s label network — including the Paredes factory — into one of the world’s largest garment-trim platforms. Portugal’s Norte region is one of Europe’s largest clothing and footwear production hubs, and Nilörn’s local manufacturing footprint let a Swedish group supply labels and trims on the doorstep of the brands and factories it serves. The pending change of control is a reminder that corridor links are bought and sold: a Swedish-owned Portuguese factory becomes part of a Brookfield-owned global group.
