Mecwide is a Portuguese industrial-engineering group led by sole shareholder Carlos Palhares, with eight industrial units and more than 1,700 employees across piping, metalwork and mechanical EPC work for oil & gas, mining, cement, energy and data centres. Through Mecwide Nordics it has become the mechanical partner of Norway’s CTS Nordics on the country’s largest data-centre build — the ~150 MW OSL2-Hamar campus — with a follow-on contract in Kristiansand.
Mecwide Nordics is the mechanical contractor on OSL2-Hamar, the largest data-centre project in Norway at roughly 150 MW of installed capacity, working alongside Norwegian data-centre builder CTS Nordics AS. A second Norwegian engagement — the North Project in Kristiansand — extends existing data-centre capacity and confirms the relationship is programmatic, not one-off.
The partnership runs in both directions: CTS Group has built a 500-plus-person Portuguese organisation, including a Barcelos joint venture with Mecwide employing more than 200 workers that feeds modular and mechanical capacity into Nordic hyperscale sites — including work associated with TikTok-linked data-centre demand in Norway. Portuguese welders, pipefitters and project engineers rotate onto Nordic sites while fabrication stays in Portugal.
Mecwide is the proof case that Portuguese heavy-industrial capability can win at the top of the Nordic infrastructure market: hyperscale data centres are among the most demanding mechanical contracts in Europe, and a Portuguese group is delivering them in Norway as a named partner — exactly the under-told Direction B story NorthSouth HQ exists to cover.
In June 2026 NorthSouth HQ profiled Mecwide’s Norwegian expansion as it wires the Hamar and Kristiansand campuses; the CTS–Mecwide Barcelos JV continues hiring into data-centre fabrication.
