Luís Seabra founded his own label in 2013 after roughly a decade as head winemaker at Niepoort, and quickly became one of the most internationally admired independent producers in Portugal. He works old mixed-field vineyards in two contrasting terroirs — the schist of the Douro (the “xisto” of his labels) and the granite of Vinho Verde country (“granito”) — making low-intervention wines that sit on ambitious restaurant lists across Europe, including the Nordics.
In the Nordic monopolies, Seabra’s Xisto Cru and Xisto Ilimitado bottlings are listed at Vinmonopolet in Norway. In Sweden, the Xisto Ilimitado Tinto (article number 93621) entered Systembolaget’s temporary assortment in the 3 July 2026 launch — a 3,600-bottle lot at 199 kronor brought in by importer Gullberg by Stockwine — moving the label from sommelier circles to state-monopoly retail reach.
Seabra is the template for how small, prestige-tier Portuguese producers enter the Nordics: not through volume tenders, but through committed specialist importers who shepherd limited lots into the monopolies’ temporary windows. Each listing builds the category’s premium credentials in a market where Portuguese wine has historically been priced at entry level.
