Corridor footprint

Kinnarps was founded in 1942 by Jarl and Evy Andersson in the village of Kinnarp, in Sweden’s Västra Götaland region, and remains family-owned today. From a single Swedish workshop it has grown into one of Europe’s largest workplace-interiors groups, producing chairs, desks, storage, and acoustic and soft-seating solutions on a vertically integrated, sustainability-led model and selling across more than 40 countries.

In Portugal the group trades as Kinnarps Portugal, operating a showroom and design studio at the Beloura Office Park in Sintra, on the Lisbon side of the country. From there it delivers complete workplace, education and healthcare interior projects for Portuguese corporate, public-sector and hospitality clients, drawing on the Swedish manufacturing base and the group’s “The Better Effect” sustainability framework.

Why this matters for the corridor

Kinnarps is a textbook example of a Nordic operator that has moved beyond exporting to build a registered, staffed presence in Portugal. As Portuguese offices, schools and hospitals invest in workplace quality and ergonomics, a Swedish design-led interiors specialist with a local showroom is well placed — and a useful data point in the steady flow of Nordic companies putting down roots in the Portuguese market.
