Retail

Jensen Møbler AS is Norway’s premium bed and mattress maker, founded in Svelvik on the Drammensfjord on 14 February 1947 and still producing there as part of the Malmö-based Hilding Anders group. In Portugal the brand sells through two dedicated Jensen Stores listed on its Portuguese-language site: Jensen Store Lisbon at Avenida João Crisóstomo 62A and Jensen Store Algarve at Avenida 5 de Outubro, loja 90, Almancil.

Corridor footprint

Jensen began in 1947 in Svelvik, the small town on the Drammensfjord south of Oslo where the Jensen family started making furniture two years after the war and where the company still builds its beds. It is Norway’s best-known premium bed brand — continental and “Nordic” spring beds, adjustable beds and the Jensen Exact comfort-adjustment system — and since the group consolidation of the Nordic bedding industry it has belonged to Hilding Anders, the Malmö-based group with brands across more than 40 countries.

Portugal is served through a dedicated Portuguese-language site and two brand stores that Jensen lists on its own store locator: Jensen Store Lisbon at Avenida João Crisóstomo 62A in Lisbon’s Avenidas Novas district, and Jensen Store Algarve at Avenida 5 de Outubro, loja 90, in Almancil, the Golden Triangle town between Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo. Both trade under the jensenstore.com banner and are positioned at the premium end of the Portuguese bedding market, alongside the brand’s hotel and contract channel. NorthSouth HQ has not identified a separately registered Jensen entity in Portugal; the stores are the brand’s documented footprint.

Why this matters for the corridor

A Norwegian factory brand selling through named showrooms in Lisbon and the Algarve is a clean example of how Nordic premium consumer goods reach Portugal: through the affluent, partly foreign-resident markets of the capital and the Golden Triangle rather than through mass retail. It also illustrates the store-partner model that most Nordic furniture and bedding brands use in Iberia instead of a local subsidiary.
