European veterinary group formed in 2017 when Sweden’s Evidensia merged with the UK’s IVC, with Swedish private-equity firm EQT as its largest shareholder. It has been buying veterinary clinics and hospitals in Portugal since 2021 through IVC Evidensia Portugal, S.A. (NIF 516705350, Lisbon).
Evidensia was created in Sweden in 2012, when several of the country’s largest and oldest companion-animal hospitals merged. EQT bought it in 2014. In May 2017 it merged with IVC, the UK veterinary group EQT had bought in 2016, to form IVC Evidensia. The group is headquartered in Bristol, UK. EQT remains its largest shareholder, after reinvesting in 2021 alongside Silver Lake and Nestlé.
In Portugal the group operates through IVC Evidensia Portugal, S.A. (NIF 516705350). The company was incorporated on 10 December 2021 and is registered at Edifício Europa, Avenida José Malhoa 16-B in Lisbon as a head-office and management-services company. A second company, IVC Evidensia Clinics Portugal, Unipessoal Lda (NIF 518620271), also appears in the register. Law firms’ deal announcements name several Portuguese acquisitions: ANIMED – Hospital Veterinário de Gondomar in March 2025 (advised by Gómez-Acebo & Pombo), Hospital Veterinário Aristocão in Torres Vedras in 2026, and clinics in Olhão, Almada and Maia (both advised by PwC Portugal). One trade report puts the Portuguese network at about 30 centres on the mainland and in Madeira. NorthSouth HQ has not independently confirmed that figure.
IVC Evidensia is the second Swedish-rooted veterinary group consolidating Portuguese clinics, after AniCura.

As nordic presence in portugal, its operations are a data point in the broader story of how capital, goods, people and ideas flow between Portugal and the Nordics — a corridor that is accelerating in 2026.
