Iptor is a Stockholm-headquartered cloud-ERP and supply-chain software vendor, founded in 1978 as International Business Systems (IBS) and rebranded in 2016. Its Portuguese arm — Iptor Portugal Supply Chain Systems, Unipessoal Lda, in Matosinhos — is the direct successor of IBS Portugal and gives the group a development and support hub of roughly 20 professionals in the Porto region.
Iptor is a Swedish enterprise-software group specialising in cloud ERP and supply-chain systems for distribution, pharmaceutical and publishing companies. Founded in 1978 in Stockholm as International Business Systems (IBS) by Staffan Ahlberg and Gunnar Rylander, the company was for decades one of Sweden’s flagship software exporters before rebranding as Iptor in September 2016. Its Portuguese operation is the direct continuation of the long-established IBS Portugal business: the Matosinhos entity has traded as IBS (Portugal) II Soluções Informáticas and today as Iptor Portugal Supply Chain Systems, Unipessoal Lda.
From Rua da Azenha de Cima in São Mamede de Infesta, the roughly 20-person Portuguese team provides development and support for the group’s global business-management platforms — a durable Swedish software engineering presence in the Porto region that predates the current wave of Nordic tech hubs in Portugal by decades.
Iptor shows the quieter, older layer of the Nordics → Portugal technology flow: not a headline-grabbing new hub, but a Swedish vendor that has kept engineering capacity in greater Porto through multiple ownership and brand changes. It is a proof point that Portuguese teams can anchor Nordic software products over the long term.
