Lisbon-founded (2013) campervan rental and marketplace platform — Europe’s largest — operating Nordic depots in Stockholm, Malmö, Copenhagen and Oslo, after opening Helsinki and Oslo pick-up points in June 2022 on the back of surging Scandinavian route demand.
Indie Campers built its Nordic position in stages: a Malmö centre first, then Stockholm and Copenhagen, then a June 2022 double opening in Oslo and Helsinki that the company attributed to a significant increase in interest in Scandinavian routes. The Nordic depots plug into a network that spanned more than 40 depots and 3,000 own vehicles across 17 countries as of 2022 and has kept growing since.
The company pairs its own fleet (Nomad and Atlas vans, winter-capable with integrated heating) with a marketplace of private rentals — a model suited to the Nordics’ short, intense summer season and Northern Lights shoulder demand.
A Lisbon consumer-travel platform running physical operations in four Nordic capitals is rare: most Portuguese tech exports to the region are B2B software. Indie Campers is the corridor’s consumer-brand exception — asset-heavy, seasonal, and operating on the ground.
Indie Campers continues to expand its European network (recent additions concentrated in Poland and Southern Europe), maintaining Sweden and Denmark among its core Nordic markets.
