Nordic presence in Portugal

Houdini Sportswear

Outdoor Apparel

Houdini Sportswear is a Stockholm outdoor-apparel brand that has been making technical clothing since 1993 and sources most of its garments from specialised European manufacturers. Its published list of producers for the Fall and Winter 2023 collection named two Portuguese garment makers among them: J. Caetano & Filhas, a family-owned manufacturer in Paredes, and Olmac (Olímpio Miranda, Lda.), a technical and knitwear garment maker in Cabeçudos, Vila Nova de Famalicão.

Corridor footprint

Houdini’s link to Portugal runs through its supply chain rather than a local office. On its “Suppliers and production” page the company says manufacturing mainly takes place at selected, specialised European partners in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, close to its distribution centre in Sweden, while fabrics are bought mainly from Japan, Taiwan and Italy. The page’s list of producers, published with garment and fabric origins for the Fall and Winter 2023 collection and still online when the Internet Archive captured it in August 2025, names ten manufacturing partners: Spectre (Latvia and Vietnam), LTP (Lithuania and Vietnam), Ursuit and Nurme (Estonia), Marbäck (Latvia), Sätila (Sweden), Utenos trikotažas (Lithuania), Wai Wah Ski-Wear Factory (China) and two in Portugal, J Caetano and Olmac.

The two Portuguese partners are established northern textile manufacturers. J. Caetano & Filhas Lda (NIF 500678570), at Rua da Castíça 18 in Paredes, describes itself as a family-owned company making garments since 1973; it works in woven and knitted fabrics, produces casual and performance shirts, dresses, jackets and trousers, and lists BSCI, GOTS and GRS certifications. Olmac is the trading name of Olímpio Miranda, Lda. (NIF 501144374; nif.pt lists a 4780-652 Palmeira, Santo Tirso postcode, while the company’s website gives Av. S. Cristóvão 1835 in Cabeçudos, Vila Nova de Famalicão). It says it has been in the market for more than 35 years, employs about 115 people and produces around 800,000 garments a year, from technical garments in polyamide, polyester, laminates and wool to conventional cotton pieces, and develops knitwear with partners in Portugal and abroad.

Why this matters for the corridor

Houdini keeps most of its production in the Baltic states and Poland, so its choice of two Portuguese factories is a concrete example of a Nordic premium outdoor brand using northern Portugal’s textile cluster for technical and knitted garments. For Portuguese manufacturers, the published supplier list is a reference that can be checked: it names the factories, their countries and their websites.
