Sobroso is old cork-oak country on the banks of the Guadiana, in the parish landscape that King Manuel I granted to Vasco da Gama as Count of Vidigueira in 1519, and the estate leans on that history in the way it presents itself. Across 1,600 hectares it runs vineyards and a winery that it describes as a meeting of modernity and functionality, a wine hotel and villas that belong to the Small Luxury Hotels of the World portfolio, a restaurant built on Alentejo produce and conventual desserts, and wine-tourism, biodiversity and gourmet activities, plus a vínica brandy aged more than ten years in Allier oak.
