Alentejo wine estate near the Spanish border, run through Tahora – Produção de Vinhos e Azeites Virgens, Lda (NIF 507789105, Serpa). Systembolaget lists seven Medeiros wines in its order assortment, from Medeiros Tinto (article 7047901, since January 2017) to Medeiros Branco (article 7587901, December 2024), all imported by Vänersborgs Vinagentur AB.
Herdade de Medeiros is an Alentejo wine estate whose contact address is in the parish of Salvador, Serpa. The regional wine commission (CVR Alentejana) lists it among its producers as Tahora – Herdade de Medeiros, describing a wine heritage dating back to 1795, vineyards in the Moura area not far from the Spanish border, and organic farming practices. Its Portuguese producer page credits the project to owner António Agostinho Marques Figueira de Chaves, who sold his businesses in Lisbon to plant vines after visiting the Serpa–Pias area. nif.pt lists the company Tahora – Produção de Vinhos e Azeites Virgens, Lda (NIF 507789105) at 7830-365 Serpa.
Its Swedish presence is built on the monopoly’s order assortment. Systembolaget’s product search shows seven Herdade de Medeiros wines, all 750 ml and all supplied by Vänersborgs Vinagentur AB: Medeiros Tinto (article 7047901, SEK 169, since 9 January 2017), Ares de Medeiros (7791701, SEK 139, July 2019), Medeiros Private Selection (7340101, SEK 277, March 2020), Ares de Medeiros Branco (5304301, SEK 133, July 2021), Medeiros Reserva Tinto (5918401, SEK 449, October 2023), Medeiros Alicante Bouschet (7569901, SEK 219, September 2024) and Medeiros Branco (7587901, SEK 161, December 2024). The importer keeps a dedicated Herdade de Medeiros producer page in a catalogue built around Portuguese estates.
Seven lines added over eight years show the slow-build route into the Swedish monopoly: a specialist importer keeps a producer’s range orderable through any Systembolaget store without the shelf commitment of a fixed-assortment tender, and adds wines as the range proves itself.
