Global Wines SA was founded in 1990 (initially as Dão Sul) by a group of Portuguese wine professionals who consolidated several Dão estates under a single producer. The flagship Quinta de Cabriz brand has since become the best-selling Dão wine internationally, built around Touriga Nacional and Aragonez blends; Cabriz Reserva Branco and the Cabriz Dão Tinto sit in the permanent Systembolaget assortment.
In Sweden, the brand is represented by importer Spendrups, with additional distribution through Spring Wine & Spirits for restaurant trade. The combination of a high-volume entry-level label and a permanent off-trade listing has given Cabriz the broadest reach of any single Dão brand inside Systembolaget.
Cabriz is the clearest worked example of a Portuguese regional brand winning a permanent Systembolaget position at scale.
