Danish end-of-life tyre recycler (Genan Holding A/S, Viborg) that has run Portugal’s former Biosafe recycling plant in Pardala, Ovar since 2019, operated by Genan, S.A. (NIF 503846279).
Genan opened its first tyre recycling plant in Viborg, Denmark, in 1990. In April 2019 Genan Holding agreed to buy BIOSAFE – Indústria de Reciclagens, S.A., which ran Portugal’s largest tyre recycling plant at Pardala, Ovar, from the Portuguese group Nors. The deal took Genan to six recycling plants. Group CEO Poul Steen Rasmussen said at the time that a plant in southern Europe would make Genan more competitive in the region, because transport costs matter a great deal to many of its customers.
Genan’s own history says the Portuguese company was renamed Genan, S.A. in 2020 and that the Ovar plant was upgraded from 25,000 to 40,000 tonnes a year of capacity. The site also became a product-development hub for the group. Genan’s contact page lists the Ovar plant with Portuguese tax number PT503846279, and the Portuguese company register (via racius.com) shows Genan, S.A. as a sociedade anónima with share capital of €4,089,000, registered at Estrada Nacional 109, km 31, Pardala, Ovar.
