Folias de Baco was founded in 2007 by Tiago Sampaio, who grew up on his grandfather’s farms near Alijó and returned from a viticulture and enology PhD in Oregon to plant his project on the Douro’s high, wind-scoured planalto in the Cima Corgo. Under the Uivo label he works old field blends with a low-intervention rulebook — no added yeast, no filtration, no fining — that made the house a reference of Portugal’s natural-wine wave, poured at the family’s own Taberna Folias de Baco in Porto.
Norway is a documented market: Vinmonopolet lists several Uivo wines, including Uivo Renegado Vinhas Velhas (article 13655801, around NOK 150) and Uivo Pét Nat bottlings (articles 11974101 and 12655601) — giving Douro natural wine a repeat presence in the Norwegian monopoly’s range.
