Filippa K has manufactured in Portugal throughout its history, and by its 2021 Fair Wear social report Portugal accounted for 43.5% of the brand’s production value (FoB) — its largest sourcing country — with two additional Portuguese factories added that year. The company publishes its factory list down to Tier 2 and Tier 3 and works with open costing sheets, making its Portuguese footprint unusually well documented for a Scandinavian fashion brand.
The flagship collaboration is with Riopele in Famalicão, which transformed TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ fibre — containing post-consumer recycled textile processed through Södra’s OnceMore system — into Filippa K’s Re:sourced Crepe, the draped fabric behind a dedicated capsule across women’s and men’s styles. The collaboration is documented by Södra, Lenzing and the brand itself.
The Filippa K–Riopele–Södra triangle is the corridor in miniature: Swedish forestry innovation and Portuguese weaving competence combining into a commercial Scandinavian product. With nearly half its production value made in Portugal, Filippa K is one of the clearest examples of how Nordic fashion depends on the Portuguese textile cluster in Vale do Ave.
