Ferring is a research-driven pharmaceutical group founded in 1950 in Malmö, Sweden, by Frederik Paulsen, and now headquartered in Saint-Prex, Switzerland. In Portugal it has operated as Ferring Portuguesa since 1988 and, since 2020, runs a Service Center in Oeiras with around 180 employees, the majority in international IT roles.
Ferring Portuguesa, the group’s Portuguese affiliate, was established in 1988 and is based in Linda-a-Velha in Oeiras, marketing Ferring’s reproductive-health, gastroenterology and urology medicines in Portugal.
In 2020 Ferring opened a Service Center in Portugal at Lagoas Park in Oeiras. It now employs around 180 people across IT, finance, human resources and procurement with international-scope roles — roughly 70% of them IT professionals — turning Portugal into a shared-services hub for the global group.
Ferring’s Service Center is a clear example of how a company with Nordic founding roots uses Portuguese talent as a back-office and technology hub for European and global operations — the same shared-services logic that has drawn Essity and others to the Lisbon area.
Fractio helps Nordic companies enter the Portuguese market — from market sizing to first sales, hiring, and legal setup.
