Fenix Outdoor International AG — the Zug-headquartered, Nasdaq Stockholm-listed group built around Fjällräven, founded by Åke Nordin in Örnsköldsvik in 1960 — names five Portuguese tier-1 factories in its published supplier list: Fortiustex, J. Caetano & Filhas, Olímpio Miranda, Pafil and Vestelogios.
Fenix Outdoor’s published tier-1 supplier list names five Portuguese factories concentrated in the north’s knitwear belt: Fortiustex in Leça do Balio (~143 staff, with its Microsilver unit in Maia), J. Caetano & Filhas in Penafiel (~121), Olímpio Miranda (~120) and Pafil (~80) in Vila Nova de Famalicão, and Vestelogios in Gandra.
The group behind them grew out of Fjällräven, founded in 1960 by Åke Nordin in Örnsköldsvik, rebranded Fenix Outdoor in 2001 and today combines the Fjällräven, Tierra, Hanwag and Royal Robbins brands with the Naturkompaniet, Partioaitta and Globetrotter retail chains from a Zug headquarters and a Stockholm listing.
Fjällräven’s Kånken generation knows the brand as Swedish; the supplier list shows how much of the physical product economy behind Nordic outdoor labels runs through Portuguese family factories — five of them, all north of Porto.
