Dona Paterna is the Alvarinho house of Carlos Alberto Codesso at Quinta da Carvalheira in Paderne, Melgaço, in the Monção e Melgaço sub-region of Vinho Verde. The family planted its first Alvarinho in 1974 and created the Dona Paterna brand in 1990; today the estate farms 15.5 hectares exclusively of Alvarinho on south-facing granitic slopes.
