Danish hearing healthcare and audio group (Smørum HQ, Nasdaq Copenhagen) operating in more than 30 countries with over 26,000 employees worldwide. In Portugal, Demant runs the Audika hearing-clinic chain, distributing Oticon and Philips hearing aids alongside diagnostic and audiology services through its Portuguese clinic network.
Demant's Portuguese footprint runs through the group's Audika hearing-clinic retail chain, the same banner Demant operates across Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, France, Hungary, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Audika clinics in Portugal provide diagnostic audiology, hearing-aid fitting and aftercare across multiple cities, distributing Demant-owned brands including Oticon (the group's flagship premium hearing-aid brand) and Philips Hearing Aids (manufactured under licence by Demant).
Beyond retail, Demant supplies the Portuguese hearing-aid market on the wholesale side through the same Oticon and Philips channels, serving private audiology clinics, hospital ENT departments and the public reimbursement system. Group-wide, Demant generates the bulk of its revenue in hearing devices but also operates communications and audiometric-instruments divisions, all of which can be referenced into the Portuguese market via Smørum.
Demant is one of the largest single Danish operators in Portuguese consumer healthcare. As Portugal's hearing-aid market matures alongside its ageing population, Demant's Audika network is positioned to absorb a growing share of national demand — and provides a useful template for other Nordic specialty-healthcare groups (Coloplast, Ambu, GN Group) considering deeper retail or clinic footprints in Iberia.
