Corridor footprint

Cary Group, the Swedish vehicle-glass repair specialist behind brands such as Ryds Bilglas, made Portugal part of its European expansion in April 2022 by acquiring 100% of GlassCo S.A., owner of the ExpressGlass brand. At acquisition the business counted roughly 90 workshops across Portugal — 44 owned and 46 operated by independent partners — some 200 employees, and total sales including partners of about €15 million (2020), with established relationships with Portuguese insurers.

Under Swedish ownership ExpressGlass has kept consolidating the Portuguese market, acquiring Newcar and further workshops, and has launched SafeDrive, a business area specialising in road safety and the calibration of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) — the growth segment as windscreens become sensor platforms.

Why this matters for the corridor

ExpressGlass is Swedish consolidation applied to Portuguese aftermarket services: a fragmented local network, an insurer-driven business model the Nordics know well, and a buy-and-build playbook now running on Portuguese roads.
