Corridor footprint

The Campolargo family has grown grapes in Bairrada since the 1920s, when patriarch Martinho Campolargo, a farmer from Mogofores, first planted vines. The modern estate — run by the family with the first wines under its own label harvested in 2000 — farms roughly 170 hectares across two properties, Quinta de São Mateus and Quinta de Vale de Azar, planted to some 28 varieties spanning Bairrada’s native Baga and Bical, broader Portuguese grapes and French imports such as Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. The family was instrumental in widening Bairrada’s wine laws beyond the traditional Baga monopoly.

Its Swedish moment came on 10 July 2026, when the Campolargo Baga & Castelão 2021 entered Systembolaget’s temporary assortment as article 90045 at 200 kronor — shipped in a lighter-weight glass bottle, a detail the Swedish monopoly increasingly rewards on sustainability grounds. The listing puts a mid-size Bairrada grower on shelves nationwide in one of Europe’s most structured wine markets.

Why this matters for the corridor

Campolargo’s listing extends a clear 2026 pattern: Systembolaget and Vinmonopolet are systematically deepening their Portuguese range beyond Douro and Vinho Verde into Bairrada, Dão and the Alentejo — and every producer that clears the temporary-assortment bar builds the category’s case for permanent listings.
