Corridor footprint

Camo is a coachbuilder in Vila Nova de Gaia; nif.pt lists it as Camo – Indústria de Autocarros, S.A. (NIF 500051623, 4430-284 Vila Nova de Gaia). It operates as the Portuguese plant of UNVI, the Galician bus and coach bodywork group based in Ourense, Spain; camo.pt now redirects to UNVI’s website.

Its Nordic customer is Volvo Buses. Jornal de Negócios reported on 16 March 2026 that Camo was assembling the bodywork of Volvo Bus’s new luxury coach model, with the first unit due to leave the Gaia plant by the end of that month. The work was originally planned for UNVI’s factory in Ourense; because that plant’s order book was already full, the Swedish manufacturer chose the Portuguese unit, which had more spare capacity. Camo employs just under 100 people.

Why this matters

The Volvo coach order shows a Swedish manufacturer placing work with a Portuguese plant for capacity reasons, inside an Iberian supplier group. It is a reference point for Portuguese vehicle-component makers looking at Nordic OEM supply chains.
