Portuguese coach and bus manufacturer based in Vila Nova de Gaia, part of the Salvador Caetano group, with more than 215 hydrogen-electric buses sold in Europe. Delivered the first H2.City Gold to Nobina in Copenhagen for MOVIA in January 2022 and the first hydrogen buses to Finland in 2025 — five H2.City Gold units leased to Koiviston Auto Jyväskylä under a Cefmof-led pilot.
CaetanoBus's H2.City Gold is a 12-metre standard low-floor city bus equipped with a Toyota 60 kW nominal fuel cell, a 44 kWh Li-ion LTO battery pack and a Siemens 180 kW peak powertrain — claimed range over 400 km on a single hydrogen refill. The first delivery to Nobina, one of the largest public transport operators in Scandinavia, started service in January 2022 on Copenhagen's MOVIA network and was the first hydrogen-electric bus on Danish municipal duty.
In 2025 the Portuguese manufacturer extended the Nordic footprint into Finland with a five-bus delivery to Koiviston Auto Jyväskylä, leased through the Central Finland Mobility Foundation (Cefmof) and showcased during the WRC Finland week in Jyväskylä. CaetanoBus has now sold more than 215 hydrogen-electric buses across Europe and is one of the very few Portuguese industrial exporters with a verified, named Nordic municipal customer base.
Hydrogen buses are an unusually clean test case for the Portugal-Nordics corridor: small unit volumes, high public visibility, named customers, and a regulatory tailwind from EU clean-bus mandates. CaetanoBus's deliveries to Nobina (DK) and Koiviston Auto (FI) are exactly the kind of named-customer industrial export the directory was designed to surface.
