In June 2025 AICEP, relaying Invest Porto, reported that the company had selected Porto for a new Tech Hub focused on process intelligence, AI-driven analytics and enterprise process improvement, and that the hub was expected to create high-skilled jobs for data scientists, engineers and digital-transformation consultants over the following months.
The Portuguese vehicle is Breakawai, Lda (NIF 518313298), a limited company with €2,000 of share capital registered at Rua Alfredo Allen 455 in Paranhos, the address of UPTEC, the University of Porto’s science and technology park in the Asprela district. The Danish parent’s registry record shows three employees at the Aarhus unit, which frames the Porto hub as the company’s main growth engine rather than a satellite.
Breakawai is a small but exact example of the nearshore pattern that has brought Danish and Swedish software companies to Porto: a Nordic consultancy with Nordic clients building its delivery capacity in Portugal, using a local limited company and the city’s engineering talent pool.
