BEWI is a Norwegian packaging, insulation and recycling group, listed on Oslo Børs as BEWI ASA, that runs EPS recycling operations in Portugal. In Lisbon it operates a total packaging-waste partnership with TTM Logistic, one of the city’s largest logistics companies, collecting, sorting and compacting EPS for reprocessing into new raw material.
BEWI’s circular model — collect used EPS packaging, compact it, and reprocess it into recycled polystyrene (rGPPS) that re-enters production of new packaging and insulation — reached Portugal through both a recycling facility and commercial partnerships. The flagship local case is TTM Logistic in Lisbon, where BEWI takes care of the logistics hub’s entire packaging waste stream and works inside the customer’s supply chain on waste separation and disposal practice.
The Portuguese facility is one of two such continental recycling sites (with the Czech Republic) that together give BEWI roughly 35,000 tonnes of annual recycling capacity — hard infrastructure, not a sales office, and a concrete Norwegian industrial footprint in the Portuguese circular economy.
Packaging circularity is moving from marketing to regulation in the EU, and BEWI’s Portugal position — physical recycling capacity plus embedded customer partnerships — is the kind of asset that becomes more valuable as extended producer responsibility tightens. For Portuguese industrial and logistics companies, the Nordic group is a ready-made compliance partner.
