Barroso & Barbosa – Indústria de Confecções, Lda is a garment maker at Rua José Elísio Gonçalves Cerejeira, Pavilhão 15E, in Vila Nova de Famalicão, the heart of the Ave valley textile belt. It is a named Tier-1 apparel production site on the published supplier list of Sweden’s Fenix Outdoor, the Nasdaq Stockholm-listed group behind Fjällräven, with about 27 workers and orders routed through the Matosinhos trading house Fortiustex Comércio de Têxteis, S.A.
Barroso & Barbosa sews outerwear in series from an industrial pavilion on Rua José Elísio Gonçalves Cerejeira in Vila Nova de Famalicão, the municipality at the centre of Portugal’s largest textile and clothing concentration. Its Nordic customer relationship is documented in the Tier-1 supplier list that Fenix Outdoor — the Nasdaq Stockholm-listed group behind Fjällräven, Tierra, Hanwag, Primus and Royal Robbins — publishes on its website. The spring 2026 edition names the Famalicão workshop as an apparel production site with about 27 workers, contracted through Fortiustex Comércio de Têxteis, S.A. of Leça do Balio (Matosinhos), the 167-worker trading and production house that also channels Fenix orders to Microsilver in Maia and to its own facility.
Fortiustex acts as the Swedish group’s Portuguese principal: it takes the order, manages fabric, patterns and quality, and distributes sewing across a network of smaller Ave-valley workshops of which Barroso & Barbosa is one. That two-tier arrangement gives a 27-person factory access to a listed Nordic customer it could not service directly, and gives the brand a single Portuguese counterpart responsible for compliance and delivery.
Together with Fortiustex, Olímpio Miranda, Leicil, Microsilver, Trapos Loucos and Vestelogios, Barroso & Barbosa completes the picture of Fjällräven’s reliance on the northern-Portuguese garment cluster: seven Portuguese Tier-1 sites in 2026, all within an hour of Porto. For Portuguese workshops the lesson is that the route to Nordic brands usually runs through a domestic intermediary; for Nordic buyers it is that the capacity is already organised and audited.
