Corridor footprint

AVK Group's Portuguese commercial presence runs through Industra — Comércio de Equipamentos Industriais, S.A., the Lisbon-area sales company that historically distributed Spanish valve manufacturer Belgicast's portfolio across Portugal. With AVK's 9 October 2023 acquisition of the Bayard and Belgicast Groups, Industra became part of the Danish AVK ecosystem, integrating valve solutions for drinking-water, wastewater and gas-distribution utilities into the AVK Water Solutions business unit.

The Iberian transaction was strategically motivated. Belgicast's strength in Spain and Portugal — including in the desalination segment, where AVK had limited prior coverage — gave the Danish group an instant Southern European platform without greenfield investment. Industra's role going forward is to channel that capability into Portuguese water utilities (EPAL, Águas do Norte, Águas do Tejo Atlântico), municipal concessionaires and industrial valve customers.

Why this matters for the corridor

AVK Group is one of the most internationally dominant Danish industrial families in the water-infrastructure category. Its Portugal chapter, anchored through Industra, is a textbook example of how Nordic family-owned industrials extend Iberian reach through bolt-on acquisitions rather than direct setup — a route that other Danish and Swedish industrial groups (Grundfos, Alfa Laval, Atlas Copco) have used in different forms across Portugal.
