According to AstraZeneca Portugal, the opening of the Parque das Nações head office on 1 April 2026 was attended by Health Minister Ana Paula Martins and Finance Minister Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, with a panel that included AstraZeneca Portugal president Nathalie Cardinal von Widdern, Ruud Dobber (executive vice-president of the group’s BioPharmaceuticals business unit) and Lisbon mayor Carlos Moedas. The company says its investment in Portugal runs both through the local subsidiary and through a global services hub, launched in 2024, that serves AstraZeneca worldwide from Lisbon. Before the move the subsidiary was based in Queluz de Baixo (Oeiras), where the separate Fundação AstraZeneca (NIF 505284898) is also registered.
AstraZeneca sits inside the Portugal ↔ Scandinavia business corridor that NorthSouth HQ tracks every day. Its Portuguese company began life as the local arm of Sweden’s Astra, and the group now runs both its Portuguese subsidiary and a global services hub from Lisbon.
