Stockholm-listed Alimak Group makes and services vertical access and height-safety equipment — construction hoists, industrial elevators, facade-access units and fall-protection systems — across five divisions, with around 3,000 employees and 2025 revenue of SEK 6.87 billion. In Portugal it owns 100% of Lusotractel - Equipamentos de Elevação e Tracção, Unipessoal Lda (NIF 503153516) in Trajouce, Cascais, which joined the group with the Tractel acquisition completed in November 2022. Alimak’s 2025 annual report counts 12 full-time employees in Portugal.
Alimak Group was founded in Sweden in 1948 and is headquartered at Blekholmstorget 30 in Stockholm. The parent company, Alimak Group AB (publ) (org. no. 556714-1857), is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm under the ticker ALIG. Its 2025 annual report describes a supplier of vertical access solutions for professional work at height, with 26 production and assembly facilities in 15 countries and five divisions: Facade Access, Construction, Height Safety & Productivity Solutions, Industrial and Wind. The group reported 2025 revenue of SEK 6,874 million, down 3% (2% organic growth), order intake of SEK 7,080 million and adjusted EBITA of SEK 1,194 million, a 17.4% margin, with around 3,000 employees.
The Portuguese company arrived with Tractel, the height-safety specialist Alimak agreed to buy on 2 August 2022 and took over on 21 November 2022. Lusotractel - Equipamentos de Elevação e Tracção, Unipessoal Lda — the name means lifting and traction equipment — is a single-shareholder company registered at Lugar de Trajouce, Pavilhão P Um, Alto do Outeiro, 2785-653 Cascais, with its main activity recorded under CAE 46140, agents in the wholesale trade of machinery and industrial equipment. Alimak’s 2025 subsidiary list shows “Lusotractel Lda. /503153516/ São Domingos de Rana, Portugal” as 100% owned, and the annual report’s headcount table counts 12 full-time equivalents in Portugal in both 2025 and 2024, against 301 in Spain. Racius lists balance sheets from 2006 to 2024, with the latest accounts filing in 2025, and public-contract entries in 2022.
Alimak is a Nordic owner that a search for the Swedish brand would miss in Portugal: its local company carries the name of an acquired business rather than the parent’s. For Portuguese contractors, building owners, industrial sites and wind operators, Lusotractel is a local, Swedish-owned source of lifting, traction and fall-protection equipment backed by a group with 26 production and assembly facilities in 15 countries. The Portuguese team is small, which means product, engineering and service capacity for larger projects sits elsewhere in the group, most visibly in neighbouring Spain.
